Amy twirled her hair nervously. She turned this way and that, trying to decide how to approach her brother. After awkwardly standing for a few minutes and almost tying her hair into a knot, she finally started, “James, um… I need to tell you something.”

James half looked up from his video game. “Yep, what’s up?”

Amy eyed the floor shamefully and mumbled, “I did something I shouldn’t have done.”

That seemed to get James’ attention. James paused his game and put the controller down. “What did you do?”

Still trying to decide if she should really say it out loud, Amy said quietly, “I just did something bad, okay? I feel bad about it. I don’t know what I should do.”

“I can’t help you if you don’t tell me,” said James.

He had a point. Amy thought about it.

(Ten year old Amy [A] stole gum from a store and feels guilty about it. She wants to confess to her thirteen-year-old brother, James [B])
